San Diego Condo Real Estate Market Offers Plenty of Choices
    by Jack Suto

Beautiful San Diego is still a destination of choice for many people seeking a second home. The incredible climate, picturesque coastal beauty and big city amenities have made San Diego a destination of choice for many over the years.

Although this real estate market has it's problems with foreclosures and investor speculation, certain areas are holding their own. San Diego condos, lofts and townhomes offers a wide selection of styles, locations and price points for those looking to capture a piece of the California coastal lifestyle.

San Diego as a city encompasses a number of well known neighborhoods including Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla. Also, the county of San Diego includes many cities just to the North or inland that make up this great area. Combined the San Diego area has a number of condo, loft and townhome communities that could be a perfect fit for those seeking a second home to escape the heat during the summer or the snow during the winter.

Downtown San Diego has seen its skyline and personality transformed. The Gaslamp District, long an entertainment center now has the new ballpark and a number of new condo high rise communities. The Gaslamp City Square located on J Street is a great example. This 6 story mid rise building with four sides forms a private courtyard area that features pool and spa area creating a private feel within the city.

For those that want to be right on the beach and full access to the coast, then the Mission Beach and Pacific Beach communities might be perfect for you. Rather than having large community developments, these neighborhoods offer many duplex style homes or some condo developments with only 4 to 8 units. Prices vary, but these condos have a strong rental market that may help to offset some costs.

La Jolla is a great combination of the best from Downtown San Diego and the Mission Beach/Pacific Beach neighborhoods. With over 300 days of sunshine, average temperature of 74, 20 miles of beach front, just 14 miles from downtown, a downtown of its featuring gourmet restaurants and art galleries, La Jolla has all the makings for a great second home destination.

Seahaus offers some great resort style amenities with beautiful cliff-side ocean views. Other La Jolla condo communities of note include Birdrock, Emerald Cove, La Jolla Place, and Cape La Jolla.

Downtown San Diego, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla are just a few of the unique locations for San Diego condos. The area has a number of hidden gems heading further north to Carlsbad or to the other beach areas like Coronado. And the downtown market with a number of new units coming to the market offers a great selection.
